Images, Past and Present
Long School Photos
Because of the size of the originals for these photographs it is not possible to view them in the normal way in this album! The only way to see the pictures at a reasonable size is to view each one individually - a slideshow does not work. When viewing a picture select the option to view it at the original size, this may be a slow process but it does allow each image to be seen properly. This is done by selecting the download option. The relevant picture is then downloaded to your computer where it can be viewed using whatever image viewing software you have installed. It can then be viewed using standard inbuilt magnification and viewing tools at whatever size you wish to see it. (If so desired it can also be saved on the user's own machine for perusal at a later time but this step is optional!) Not the most satisfactory procedure in the world but it does enable the viewing of pictures which are almost a yard long at a size which is visible to ageing eyes!

MemorabiliaA Question For You All - Now We Have An Answer

This photograph was taken during N. Hodgson's time as headmaster and comes from an article published in the Lancashire Evening Post. We do not know the date nor do we know the reason for the picture! The original article was torn so we do not have the names of all the subjects. The following people are included in the photo (not in any particular order):
N.T. Newhouse, J.I.M. Naylor, J. Hamilton, M.A.F.I. Jolly, K. Porter, R.C. Craston, E.E.L. Owens, R. Myrescough
The Answer
Prefects, Autumn 1940 (four from the previous year at the rear, new ones at the front)
Back Row: Ken Porter (probably), R. Craston, Ted Owen, R. Myrescough
Front Row: Norman Newhouse, Tommy Sumner, Rhodes, Jack Greenhalgh, Jim Naylor, Jim Hamilton, Malcom Jolly, ?, Bill Holgate
(This information was supplied by H. J. (Bill) Holgate who also provided the following picture of the prefects in 1941)
